PEUGEOT 2008 : THE NEW URBAN CROSSOVER SET TO WIN CUSTOMERS THE WORLD OVER

Peugeot 2008

With the  2008, Peugeot   capitalises on  its  expertise acquired   with the  success of  the  3008 Crossover to create an innovative vehicle  for the  B segment.  Set to go on sole in Spring 2013, it joins in the dynamic  of the product offensive initiated successfully by the 208.

The new crossover by Peugeot  is the first vehicle produced by the Marque that  was designed and developed   simultaneously by  several geographic   markets. With its  worldwide  objectives, the
2008 thrusts  the Marque into a new dynamic, in line  with its strategy of developing its crossover
range and attracting new customers.

An innovative concept

In a world which is constantly evolving and  increasingly urban, a new  generation of customers is emerging. Eager  to always be  on  the  move; they   feed  on  dynamism. Agile,  diverse, they  con  be found on every  continent and are looking for products which reflect their personality.

Drawing strength from  this   observation,  the   Marque  drew  up  a  specification  with ambitious objectives. From  the start,it incorporated into  the  DNA of the crossover by Peugeot, which combines an  accomplished driving experience, stylish  design with   practical advantages, the   challenge of designing a vehicle intended for an internationalclientele across three geographic markets.

Peugeot rose to the challenge. Upmarket, dynamic, the  new  crossover by Peugeot offers a rich  and varied  experience in  the   B  segment So, at  just  4.16m   long,  the   2008   innovates  by  uniquely combining the  driving characteristics of a hatchback and  the  strength of an SUV with an on-board area  (passenger space, modularity and comfort) which invites you to enjoy each moment to the  full. Equally at ease in town as on the  open  road, it can escape  from the  city  with confidence due to its extended mobility features. Stimulating and versatile, the 2008  suits alcustomers.

The 2008  is to be produced close to its markets, in France  (Mulhouse),in China  (Wuhan) and in Brazil(Porto Real).

"In the 2008, the Marque has the vehicle  which will secure its leadership in the segment in Europe and which will win  new customers in Asia and Latin  America." fVtaxime Picat, Director General of Peugeot

"With the 2008, Peugeot  is continuing its product offensive  and capitalising  on the success  of the 3008 by offering a new crossover, urban and innovative, to win over an international clientele"
Xavier Peugeot, Peugeot  Product Director

A unique  style, combining elegance and strength

The  2008  reinvents the  standards of large-volume vehicles in the  compact car  segment. Innovative from first  glance, it successfully merges the  two worlds. The strong stylistic trend affirms its identity for practicality, volume and the driving experience available with 2008.

"Creating  the  2008 was  a real challenge though we  had  a very  precise idea  of the  vehicle  that  we wanted to offer our customers. The style brought to life in an early  phase remained  true to the original design right up to production. The very first sketch  was  perfect -stylish and effective."
Eric Dejou, 2008  Style  Manager

"The 2008 has succeeded in merging  worlds  and cultures  to offer a style  which  goes beyond  customer expectations." Gilles Vidal, Peugeot  Style  Director

With its higher-driving position the  2008,fitted with 'Mud&Snow' tyres, 17" 'Diamond' wheels with a matt finish, has  pronounced wheel arches  that give  it an appealing road  presence and  stance. The black  bumpers and  body  sills  serve to protect it from abrasions with the addition of front and  rear body  protection and side mouldings in stainless steel.

The  front face  adopts the  latest Peugeot style codes, with panel fit  and  features working together seamlessly and precisely. Finely  sculpted, the  bonnet lines  infer  lightness, strength and protection of the  2008,  while the  'floating grille' face  has  a  solidity of  form with vertical elements to harness aerodynamic  performance and   efficiency. The  innovative headlamps are  designed  precisely  to reflect the  technical functions. Sharp  and  precise, they  act  with the  bodywork to given  the  outline appearance of  a eat's  pupil. Sculpted, they are  at  one  with the  front face, giving it an  even  more expressive, technological and  individual character. This  look is  emphasised by  LED  da y  running lamps.

The  new  urban crossover has  elegant and  sophisticated sculpted wings and  sides, indicating clear athletic qualities. The  generous glazed surfaces, including  the  panoramic roof, promise a spacious interior open to its surroundings.

The latest generation engines draw the very essence of the lightness and profiled silhouette to offer an exceptional driving experience combined with a true breakthrough in terms of fuel economy. Due to the technology of the e-HDi Diesel and new 3-cylinder petrol engines, the 2008 urban crossover stands out from the competition with CO2 starting from 99 g/km.

The new Peugeot 301

2012 Peugeot 301

The new Peugeot 301 is a clear illustration of the Marque's internationalisation and demonstrates its desire to conquer new markets. It has been specifically designed to appeal to a wide customer base attracted by four-door saloons which are both accessible and present an enhanced level of status. In keeping with Peugeot’s desire to introduce cars for specific markets, the 301 is not intended for the UK market.

The Peugeot 301, which in time is expected to become one of the Marque's best selling vehicles worldwide, is positioned at the heart of its segment. It offers modern styling and features that are carefully adapted to fulfil the expectations of the different markets in which it will be sold.

The 301 incorporates the latest stylistic codes of the Marque offering a modern design and character which inspires emotion and gives an impression of strength. Furthermore, the design of this new car was guided at every stage by the desire to be the best in class incorporating Peugeot's highest quality criteria.

The 301 was developed to adapt to all conditions of use, and extremes (hot countries, cold countries, and poor roads). With an overall length of 4.44 metres it sets itself apart with an optimised and generous structure which puts it a step ahead of the competition. So, it will have benchmark characteristics in its segment:
  • Class leading occupant space in the rear due to a wheelbase of 2.65 m
  • A best in class boot volume of 506 dm3 (VDA 210)
  • Safe handling combined with high levels of comfort, the result of Peugeot's chassis expertise and thus guaranteeing excellent driving pleasure under all conditions
  • A wide range of safety equipment available: ESP, ABS, up to four airbags, emergency braking assistance, ISOFIX, etc.
The range of latest generation petrol and diesel engines on the 301 is perfectly suited to the expectations of target markets, with power values ranging from 71 bhp to 115 bhp and manual, piloted or automatic gearboxes:
  • 1.2 l VTi 52 kW (71 bhp) with manual or EGC ( electronic gearbox control)
  • 1.6 l HDi 68 kW (92 bhp) with manual gearbox
  • 1.6 l VTi 85 kW (115 bhp) with manual or automatic gearbox
A symbol of modernity, the 301 therefore will become the second car in the Peugeot range, after the 208, to benefit from the new range of 3 cylinder petrol engines (1.2 l VTi) which, due to their advanced technology, combine driving pleasure and reduced fuel consumption.

The 301 incorporates modern comfort equipment (electronic air conditioning, MP3 audio system with Bluetooth hands-free kit and USB connection, remote opening of the boot, rear parking assistance, etc), all of which guarantee an excellent level of comfort on board.

A family vehicle that is both safe and reliable with great driving characteristics, these are elements that have already ensured the success of the Marque in many of the countries where the 301 will be sold. Indeed, Peugeot has been manufacturing motor vehicles for more than 100 years and has designed numerous saloons which have earned and continue to earn their place in motor vehicle history (404, 504, 305, 405, 406, 407, 408, and 508).

The new Peugeot 301, manufactured in Vigo (Spain), will have its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September. It will then go on sale from 1st November 2012 in Turkey then into Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, The Middle East, Gulf and African States, as well as in certain Latin American markets.

Peugeot argentina to launch the new 308

2012 Peugeot 308

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina : February 9, 2012 - A little more than two months ago, Peugeot Argentina celebrated the industrial launch of the locally produced 308 in the Buenos Aires Production Centre, one of the factories owned by the PSA Group in Latin America, in the presence of Christian Kirchner, President of the Republic of Argentina.

It is now the press` turn to discover 308, on the occasion of a press launch held currently in the province of Mendoza, where 80 Argentine journalists test drive 308 models throughout the highly demanding roads of this picturesque region.

A pre-launch phase was conducted in January leading to the sale of 950 units to final customers, the official commercial launch being scheduled beginning of March 2012.

The new Peugeot 308 is the successor in Argentina to the successful 307 model, which in its segment and in that country has been a point of reference for the last decade and the undisputable sales leader for six years in a row. The Argentine factory of the PSA Group estimates that it will be producing 30,000 units of the new 308 in 2012 and exporting 50% of said production towards the Mercosur area. In the case of Peugeot Argentina, the 308 model aims to be top of its segment in 2012, with a market share of more than 30%.

The 308 makes a relevant quantum leap forward in regards to the 307 model, since it represents a fundamental step towards its move upmarket which Peugeot decided to undertake. The 308 offers three distinctive characteristics which make it a stand-out product compared to the competition: the navigation system, the LEDs and the "sky roof". And it is also outstanding for being the first vehicle manufactured in Argentina with a panoramic glass roof.

The range is made up of three different versions: Allure, Allure Plus and Feline. And it will be available with three different engines: 1.6L HDi diesel with 115bhp, 2.0L petrol with 143 bhp, and 1.6L petrol with 115 bhp. The latter engine has great innovation and is introduced for the fist time in this model. The client may also choose between manual and automatic gearboxes. The 308 family in Argentina is made up of nine different versions at the time of its launch.

The 308 manufactured in Argentina takes on the style and characteristics of the European model, launched in April 2011. Peugeot has already sold 11,495,428 units of its 300 series (301-308) worldwide and more than 1,072,551 correspond solely to the 308.

The 308 produced in Argentina benefits also from all the experience of the Buenos Aires Production Centre, which since 1998 has produced more than a million vehicles.

The production of the 308 in Argentina required two years of work and an investment close to 700 million pesos, with a large percentage of its parts supplied locally, exceeding 60% and the other approximately 40% being sourced mainly from Europe. Furthermore, for its production, more than 88,000 hours of training have been given to operators, technicians, engineers and suppliers.

This new Peugeot model is complemented by the manufacture of the 408 model - launched industrially in 2010 and which began being sold in Argentina at the beginning of 2011- along with other Peugeot vehicles produced at the Argentine site: 206 Generation, 207 Compact and Partner. In 2011, the sales of Peugeot in Argentina increased 33% compared to 2010, with nearly 75,000 registrations, exceeding the market performance which recorded a 28% increase. With the launch of the new 308, Peugeot Argentina aims at ensuring the continuity of this growth.

Peugeot to withdraw from Endurance competition

After 14 victories in the last 16 races, including a double at the Le Mans 24 Hours 2009 as part of the ILMC championship won by Peugeot two years running, in 2010 and 2011, the Brand has decided to close its 2012 endurance programme and will not be taking part in the next Le Mans 24 Hours.

This decision has been taken against the backdrop of the challenging economic environment in Europe coupled with a particularly busy year for the Brand in terms of new vehicle launches. In this context, Peugeot prefers to concentrate its 2012 resources on its commercial performance and, in particular, ensuring the successful launches of the 208, 3008 HYbrid4, 508 RXH, 508 HYbrid4 and 4008 which will take forward the Brand's strategy of moving upmarket and extending its global presence.

In keeping with its social responsibility obligations and as part of the GPEC (forward management of jobs and skills) agreement, all of the employees concerned will be offered redeployment solutions within the Group thanks to a special system set up to oversee and lead occupational training/retraining as well as internal mobility.
