WORLDWIDE SALES OF SUZUKI SWIFT REACH THREE MILLION UNITS

Suzuki Motor Corporation is pleased to announce that cumulative worldwide sales of Suzuki's Swift compact car, which was originally launched as a world strategic model in 2004, reached three million units in January this year (eight years and two months since the start of sales in 2004).


 The Swift reflects Suzuki's expertise in the compact car sector and its dedication to creating models which are sporty, stylish and fun to drive. The vehicle was first produced and sold in Japan as a world strategic model in November 2004. In the following year, production and distribution began in various countries, including Hungary, India and China. In March 2012, production and distribution were also launched in Thailand. Today, the Swift is a popular vehicle in more than 120 countries and regions around the world and cumulative worldwide sales have now reached the three million mark.

In Japan, the Swift won the RJC (Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference of Japan) Car of the Year Award in 2006 and 2011, and the 2005-2006 Japan Car of the Year Special ‘Most Fun' Award, in addition to various Car of the Year Awards in Europe, India and other countries – an indication of the high esteem in which the Swift is held.

In the full model change of 2010, the Swift – the new standard compact car – was enhanced with the adoption of a sophisticated design which conveys a free yet stable image, underscoring the Swift's "nippy" character, and also through the improvement of overall environmental performance.

Of the three million units, approximately 13% have been sold in Japan, 45% in India and 23% in Europe.

Suzuki announces the 2013 Grand Vitara

Suzuki is pleased to announce the fresh faced Grand Vitara range, due to start arriving from December 2012. Changes cover the vehicle design throughout, with the front bumper and grille re-styled with a more angular design and the foglamp styling revised. Additional changes include inner headlight black accents on 5 door SZ5 models, and newly designed 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels.

By customer demand, a temporary use 16-inch spare wheel with 225/70 tyre has now been included as standard, eliminating the need for a puncture repair system. As the spare wheel is mounted on the rear door, the Grand Vitara grows in length by 200mm (five-door models) and 170mm (three-door models).


Moving inside, SZ3 (three-door) and SZ4 (three-door and fice-door) models are finished with new design seat trims whilst SZ5 five-door models are now equipped with a 6.1-inch touchscreen Colour Navigation System.

The navigation system forms part of the infotainment centre - allowing a number of music options - CD, radio, SD card, media player (including iPod® and iPhone®) connected via the USB port, as well as via Bluetooth® music streaming and phone connectivity.

Suzuki launched the first Vitara 24 years ago, creating the world's first compact SUV and tapping into a new market for vehicles that combine true off-road capability with responsive, fun-to-drive on-road ability.

Suzuki introduces New special edition - Alto Play

Suzuki (GB) PLC is pleased to announce the introduction of the special edition Alto Play model which goes on sale this week and with around 500 being available.


Alto Play is based on the popular SZ3 mid grade model with air conditioning, pollen filter and side airbags as standard equipment but offers added customer value with a higher specification including front fog lamps and various exterior and interior upgrades.

Alto Play is recognised by its stylish Oyster Blue metallic paint finish; unique blue seat fabric, silver accent on the front bumper and body coloured door handles and mirrors.



With Suzuki’s popular VAT free offers recently extended to March 30 to help customers buy a new car ready for the ‘12’ registration, this means that Alto Play is available for just £7,595 including metallic paint.  A flexible and very low deposit Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) is also available for customers wishing to purchase via Suzuki Financial Services.


Alto is one of the least polluting five-door City cars on the market with tailpipe emissions of 103g/km as well as offering 64.2mpg on the EC combined cycle.  Cost of ownership is also very low with an annual VED charge of £20 and insurance group 4E classification. At the 2012 International Motor Show in Geneva, Suzuki Motor Corporation will hold a press conference starting from 9:45am on 6th March, at stand number 4251 in hall 4. Suzuki will exhibit a range of models with its latest technologies. These models are a clear statement towards a new phase of motorization, from the Japanese manufacturer who is an expert of compact car development.


Suzuki proposes a vision of a next-generation global compact car. It’s just 730kg thanks to a clear focus on minimizing weight, and it has a drag coefficient at least 10% lower than that of current Suzuki A-segment models, thanks to uncompromising efforts to heighten aerodynamic performance. As a result, its CO2 emissions is as low as 70g/km (measured in the New European Driving Cycle) with a petrol engine.

Since a Swift Plug-in hybrid based on a previous Swift was exhibited at Geneva Motor Show in 2010, Suzuki has further advanced its expertise in eco-car technology and this year showcases the Swift Range Extender based on a current Swift. The Swift Range Extender covers 30 km with its fully charged battery alone and it can extend its range using an engine-driven generator. Compared with an electric vehicle that depends entirely on battery power, the Swift Range Extender has a more compact lithium-ion battery that is quicker to charge, weighs less, uses fewer resources, and costs less.

Suzuki acquires site for constructing new plant in Indonesia

JAKARTA : PT. SUZUKI INDOMOBIL MOTOR (SIM), subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation in Indonesia, has acquired site for constructing new plant in Indonesia, a growing market of automobiles and motorcycles. 

 The site acquired by SIM is in the industrial zone located east of Jakarta with an area of approximately 1.3 million m2, and the investment for this acquisition is approximately 10 billion yen.


The acquisition is aimed to increase the local content rate by bringing forward the internal production. It is scheduled to construct the engine manufacturing plant which includes manufacturing of parts by forging, casting, and aluminium die-cast.


Suzuki currently has two plants in Indonesia with production capability of 1 million motorcycles and 80,000 automobiles per year. With this acquisition of the site, Suzuki will be capable of consolidating the plants and enhancing the production capability in the future.


SIM is planning to produce and sell three-row, seven-seater passenger car in the spring of 2012, and is also considering producing eco-friendly cars that meet the Indonesian Low Cost Green Car Program.

New Suzuki Swift Sport to make world debut at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

The new generation of the Suzuki Swift Sport will make its world debut at the 64th International Motor Show (IAA), which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, from 13 to 25 September 2011*1).


New Swift Sport: an evolution of Swift series' sporty flagship

The new Swift Sport is a refined sports compact and the result of the first full model change since the launch of the original Swift Sport in 2006. It has a more aggressive and dignified exterior look thanks to a ground-hugging form that gives a sense of stability and tension and a big front grille that hints at the performance within. And its cabin combines essential sportiness with a high-quality look and feel, as well as, design features that heighten the excitement about the driving experience.

Higher power and lower fuel consumption are delivered by the 1.6-litre M16A engine, which Suzuki developed exclusively for the Swift Sport. The engine is mated to a specially developed six-speed manual transmission, resulting in performance that is both exciting and environmentally responsible. Plus, the new Swift Sport offers superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive handling thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and an exclusive rear-suspension design.

New Suzuki SX4 "Style"

BENSHEIM : July 5, 2011 - Suzuki offers its successful model SX4 now available as a special model of the same name. The SX4 "style" is based on the quality "Comfortline" and brings as standard in addition to numerous amenities including air conditioning with pollen filter and a height-adjustable leather steering wheel with an extensive safety package with six airbags, ESP and Isofix child seat attachment on the two outer rear seats. As a special highlight of the SX4 has the "style" also has a Bosch navigation system with multimedia feature, an iPod connector, a handsfree, a CD player and a Bluetooth and a USB interface. The system is controlled via a convenient steering wheel remote control. Nine stereo speakers work with an impressive soundscape. Extensive maps enable Europe lightning fast, accurate and reliable navigation.


The exclusively the SX4 "style" electrically folding exterior mirrors with integrated side blinkers reserved, which are also electrically adjustable and heated. He broke his old record 10 minutes barrier (10:01.407) by shortening 10 seconds, also achieved sixth consecutive overall wins.
