Advanced Driving Pleasure in the all-new Mazda Compact Crossover SUV — First full implementation of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and the ‘KODO - Soul of Motion’ design theme.
The world premiere of the all-new Mazda CX-5 at Frankfurt begins a new era for the Mazda brand. The all-new compact crossover SUV is the first of a new-generation of Mazda products that will adopt the full range of unique Mazda-developed SKYACTIV Technology and the exciting new design language called ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’. It will be available in three completely new engines with record-breaking compression ratios of 14:1 – a SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel with two-stage turbocharger in two power derivatives, and a SKYACTIV-G 2.0 direct-injection petrol – coupled to the new SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic or the new SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual.
These technologies are combined with a new platform featuring lightweight yet rigid body and chassis structures, aerodynamic efficiency for precise response and a high-quality, rewarding ride. And these are matched to outstanding environmental and safety performance
The customer can choose between a two- and four wheel-drive version. Mazda CX-5 focused on achieving exceptional environmental performance for a compact SUV and targeted CO2 emissions of less than 120 g/km for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel model with standard power, front-wheel-drive, manual transmission.
On the inside, CX-5 has generous boot volume and rear legroom – one of the segment’s largest, in fact – high quality feel, superior functionality and low noise levels for a most enjoyable ride. Superior safety performance is realised by offering Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM)* and all-new active safety equipment like Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), High-Beam Control (HBC)*, and Lane Departure Warning . When combined with a fantastic new design language that expresses a strong sense of vitality and agility, Mazda’s new core model CX-5 promises to set a new standard in the compact SUV segment when launched in Europe in early 2012.
