A Chevrolet Camaro SS has been added to the Dubai Police force??s impressive fleet of fully marked performance patrol cars, marking the first time the American muscle car has been used by police in the Middle East.
The addition of the 318kW/567Nm 6.2-litre V8-powered Chevrolet Camaro SS, follows the recent expansion of Dubai??s four-wheeled law enforcement unit to include a 559kW/750Nm Aston Martin One-77, a $761,500 515kW/690Nm Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 and a $625,000 475kW/683Nm Ferrari FF.
While the Camaro SS can accelerate to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 250km/h, the $1.8 million British supercar ?" seen at last year??s Sydney motor show ?" uses its naturally aspirated 7.3-litre V12 engine to net results of 3.7 seconds and over 350km/h.
Dubai deputy police chief Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina said the Chevrolet Camaro is ??highly regarded? and ??is the ideal car for Dubai Police as we look to upgrade our vehicles to meet the Emirate??s world renowned standards in safety and security.?
The United Arab Emirates-based police fleet reportedly also includes a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and a Bentley Continental GT, with all cars finished in white and green livery and equipped with a light bar and siren.
Dubai Police have been busy lately, with Canadian pop star Justin Bieber receiving several speeding fines recently, while on a five-day, two-show tour of the emirate.
What car will be next to join the force in Dubai?
