ABT AS5 SPORTBACK : CHIC, SPORTY AND FAST

2013 ABT AS5 Sportback

There are cars and then there is the Audi A5. The “Sportback” is characterised by an unobtrusively elegant body that makes it really stand out. “The clear design of its stretched, sporty body makes it an utterly wonderful car, a car of its own”, says Hans-Jürgen Abt. For the managing director of the globally largest manufacturer of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, the new A5 is a masterpiece with which the ABT Sportsline philosophy can be perfectly implemented. “The car is very sporty and individual, assertive and dynamic – an ideal basis for our engineers and designers”, he says.

When conceiving the upratings for the ABT AS5, the developers took account of the respective engine's characteristics and saw to full dependability and roadworthiness. The result is a car that gives a lot of pleasure, coming with a guarantee and regardless of which engine you have opted for. There are three turbo petrol engine variants. After having been “ABTPOWERised”, the economical  1.8 TFSI shows 211 hp or 155 kW  (serial version: 170 hp/125 kW), the 2.0 TFSI delivers 270 hp/199 kW (serial version: 211 hp/155 kW). Especially impressive is the 3.0 TFSI: 380 hp or 279 kW (serial version 272 hp/200 kW), and a torque of 500 Nm makes this variant a real athlete. For frequent drivers, we recommend the turbo diesel engines, which also get uprated by ABT Sportsline: to 300 hp or 221 kW (serial version: 245 hp/180 kW) and an impressive torque of 570 NM for the 3.0 TDI and torquey 205 hp or 151 kW for the 2.0 TDI (serial version: 177 hp/130 kW).

Rather befitting this extra performance and agility, the creative Bavarian developers also came up with components that underscore the elegant and dynamic character of the ABT AS5: the front lip spoiler and an assertive rear end, including a rear skirt and the four-pipe exhaust, form a unit with the Sportback’s extravagant design. Sporty CR or DR alloy wheels, available in 19 or 20 inches, make the car perfect. Needless to say that ABT also sells them in combination with high-speed tires and wheel spacers.

The ABT Sportsline chassis springs lower the car’s CoG by 25mm, which does not only leave a sportier impression but also gives it more performance precision. This is best done with the sport coilovers that makes for a maximum lowering of 50mm. The driver selects the right setting for any given situation and positions the A5 between a luxurious limo and a racing car. At its limit, the car is made safer by the ABT braking system, which is also fully geared to the uprating. The new ABT AS5 is always an unobtrusively elegant high-end sports car and a real pleasure to drive.

The New ABT RS4

2013 ABT RS4

Every new generation of the Audi RS4, having been on sale since 1999 and traditionally tuned by ABT Sportsline, has seen an uprating. Incidentally, even its legendary forefather, the RS2 (315 hp/232 kW), is still at a par with many modern sports cars. Although the RS4 is now powered by a 4.2l V8 with 450 hp (331 kW) and accelerates faster than previous generations, one essential number hasn’t changed at all: its top speed of 250 km/h. The reason is its factory electronic speed limiter. But the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group has filed down the electronic speed chain, as it were, and the ABT RS4 now reaches a top speed of almost 290 km/h.

You could almost think the new car from Bavaria would “roar” out of excitement and joy, but its full bass comes from the optionally available stainless-steel exhaust system. From the catalytic converter, ABT Sportsline replaces the system with optimised components on which the serially very musical V8 always seems to find the right tone. It goes without saying that the Bavarians also offer a TÜV approval for this “brass instrument”.

In visual terms, the standard RS4 Avant is certainly not a nobody, but the tuning company has discovered more potential for a better look in its wheel houses. ABT uses one size larger alloy wheels in its ABT DR design in 9 x 20 inches. These dimensions aside, their design also means more dynamism. There is the cool gun metal finish and the spokes arranged like a turbine blade. To make the car’s muscular appearance perfect, the Bavarian car tuner also installs 25mm wheel spacers on each side. And finally there is the ABT boot mat and the matching set of floor mats. After all, your foot on the pedal should feel comfortable: It will now be able to take the car beyond 250 km/h.

The new ABT AS7 : A perfect travel companion with racing genes

2012 ABT AS7 3.0 TDI

The ABT AS7 is a special car indeed. Naturally, the “AS” stands for “astonishingly sporty” and the coupé is elegant, assertive and comfortable, even over long distances. And especially in its latest, strongest Diesel version, the 3.0 TDI, which ABT Sportsline has developed for people who are on the road a lot but want to have it all. “This 3 litre diesel simply is a very economical high-performance engine,” says CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt.

The renowned Bavarian company’s managing director knows the bi-turbo engine’s strong potential inside out: “A torque of 700 Nm makes for full superiority”, Abt says. The V6 shows 360 diesel hp (265 kW); up from a standard 313 hp (230 kW). The ABT Sportsline engineers made this possible by employing their ABT Engine Control. The AS7 as the perfect travel companion gets from zero to 100 km/h in no more than 5.1 seconds – through all its lifetime. After all, the extravagant ABT AS7 is not only fast and strong, it is also extremely dependable.

For the premium car with its extravagant design, ABT Sportsline also developed the right visually fitting components. The design masterpiece embodies the true racing spirit. A front spoiler, side skirts and the rear skirt set are part of its bespoke suit and its exhaust pipe covers stand for the sportiness that has characterised ABT for decades now.

The globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group recommends its own alloy wheels, too. They are perfectly in line with the AS7’s contours and make for an impressive appearance, even when standing still. These racy wheels are available in 20 and 21 inches, also with the appropriate high-speed tyres. Lowering the car’s center of gravity by using chassis springs or the adjustable ABT Level Control make the ABT AS7 look even more assertive. And its roadability is also improved, which makes driving the strong 3.0 TDI in particular a lot of fun. So if you want to put “high performance, much elegance and real extravagance” as briefly as you can, just say “ABT AS7”.

The new ABT Beetle

2012 ABT BEETLE

Its predecessor was an evergreen, a mass-consumption vehicle, both in Germany and worldwide. The Beetle was dependable and robust, it looked nice and was very distinct. Incidentally, it was also a sportsman and film star, if you will, and this potential for a cult following is what characterises its successor as well, especially when tuned by ABT Sportsline.

The traditional company from the Allgäu has been involved in "breeding beetles“ for decades now. Way back, the basis was disrespectfully called “creepy-crawly”, but the new model is much improved over its predecessor: In the ABT Beetle, the 2 litre turbo engine’s 240 hp (176 kW) is the right thing for the fast lane. Compared with the standard model, this is an extra ABT POWER of 40 PS (29 kW) you can really feel – on whatever road and in whatever gear. And this extra power is what the 1965 Beetle had to show in all, mind you! So this new speedy car asserts itself wherever it goes. Don’t only think small – drive fast, too! The exhaust system includes two oval ABT rear mufflers. An ABT Beetle is an everyday athlete and makes driving a real pleasure. The design elements turn this unusual car into a cheeky and dynamic sports car before you have even started the engine.

The Beetle from Kempten is a car you can use every day but also a real grand-grandson of Herbie’s: The carbon-look deco set is both retro and modern. It highlights the car’s charming individuality. The headlight covers make it look more aggressive. Rear light covers and a license plate insert lend the rear end more originality. The front spoiler signals that this beautiful sports car will never get off the ground. To make the Beetle’s looks even more perfect, we recommend ABT wheels in their powerful DR or CR designs, which are fully in line with the Beetle’s silhouette and contours. These wheels are available from 18’’ to 20’’ and also in conjunction with the right sport tyres. This visual unit is completed by the ABT brake system, which you can tell by its black painted callipers bearing the ABT Logo. This turns the Beetle’s base into an eye-catcher, too. And ABT suspension springs make it corner even better. All these upgrades make the new Beetle a... well-rounded thing.

“Power packhorse” with style and sporting spirit – the new ABT Multivan

2012 ABT T5 Multivan

The ABT Multivan reminds Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the worlds largest tuning company for cars manufactured by the Volkswagen Group, of basketball player Dirk Nowitzki: “The car can manage a lot of (shopping) baskets and is fast and agile despite its XXL size.” The vehicle, plainly called “T5”, is an achiever; the ABT specialists give the great-grandson of the so-called Bulli (the original VW van) a new look, which gives the model athlete an extravagant appearance and an extremely agile feel. Of course, the additional performance provided to the Multivan by ABT also benefits its every-day properties. Power reserves are useful for anyone who wants to transport kit and caboodle, a mobile workshop or – if necessary – a complete household. Therefore: let van be a noble creature, helpful and fast.

The modern engines of the T5 are economical and designed for diversity. The engineers of ABT Sportsline had “sportiness” and “dynamics” on their to-do list – of course, in combination with virtually matchless reliability, the hallmark of VW buses. The 2.0 TSI now achieves a powerful 240 HP (176 kW) instead of the standard 204 HP (150 kW). A torque of 400 Nm makes sure that the ABT Multivan doesn’t get “out of breath”, even when it is fully loaded. The more powerful version of the 2.0 TDI comes to a vigorous 170 HP/125 kW (standard: 140 HP/103 kW), again with a torque of 400 Nm. By the way, if you decide to buy one of the less powerful versions of the diesel engine, you can equip it with additional ABT POWER. 84 HP (62 kW) are transformed into 110 HP (81 kW), and 102 HP (75 kW) are transformed into a powerful 130 HP (96 kW).

The ABT Multivan is confident; it doesn’t make itself look small. This would not be possible anyway, because it is 5.5 metres in length with the long wheelbase of 3,400 mm. The designers from Bavaria underline the dominant appearance of the T5 even more. The aerodynamics packages are available for models with short or long wheelbases – and include a front spoiler in combination with the front grille, side and rear skirts, which make the car appear closer to the road and symbolise dynamism. The rear spoiler presses the Multivan down and makes the transport vehicle look assertive and sporty. All components are perfectly matched; rear skirt and rear spoiler form a harmonious unit in combination with the exhaust system with its two double tail pipes, typical for the ABT Sportsline premium brand. Suspension updates are designed for the bearing loads of the Multivan, but still ensure much better road holding for the “power packhorse”.

The DR 19 inch sport rim is the perfect choice to go with the dynamic look and sporty acceleration, which speeds up the large van with the 2.0 TSI petrol engine to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. The gun metal look and the machine-relieved rim communicate motion and an urge to move forwards. Of course, the rim is also available in combination with tyres that are the perfect match for the sporty ambition and bearing load of this exceptional car.

The new ABT QS3!

2012 ABT Q3

It epitomises the new “urban off-roader” generation – the Q3. This SUV’s power, agility and compact dimensions are impressive indeed. In its ABT Sportsline version, you even get a bit more sportiness and extravagant looks. It’s three cheers for the new ABT QS3: Cheer it on in the rush hour, in front of a restaurant or the opera house. But the QS3 is also huge fun to drive on motorways or winding country roads. And it has the horses to pull, err, well, a horse trailer.

For ABT, the “S“ in QS3 stands for very sporty, strong and speedy. So the company put in a bit more ABT POWER. The engineers have developed two variants that underline its sporty character and provide additional dynamism and power when driving it: The 2.0 TDI has 205 hp or 151 kW (production version: 177 hp/130 kW, the 2 litre TFSI has 270 hp or 199 kW (production version: 211 hp/155 kW). In conjunction with the ABT suspension springs, these engines’ performance potential is so ideally utilised that – we have to repeat it – this SUV deserves three cheers.

The ABT QS3 is a very chic car, a sportsman in a tailor-made suit. This impression has been enhanced by this special automobile’s both powerful and reserved contours: Our designers have developed body parts that combine self-confidence with elegance and some extra exclusivity. The front grille is very striking, especially in combination with the front spoiler that makes the QS3’s face really unique. Door strip attachments, rear spoiler and a new rear skirt with the typical ABT exhaust pipes, generate much sportiness. To make this car’s outfit perfect, we recommend ABT sport wheels. The CR and DR are fully in line with the car’s silhouette. They are available from 18’’ to 21’’ and also in combination with high-performance tyres. All this makes this new model come into its own: After all, this QS3 is a real ABT and part of a success story. SUV’s from Kempten have always been champions – be it “large” ABT Touaregs or compact ABT QS3s.

The new ABT AS3 - Individuality and dynamics for everyday life

2012 ABT AS3

The A3 is a winner – it defines the compact car class with its self-confident premium claim again and again. The car is compact, but "the emphasis is on class", explained Hans-Jürgen Abt. For the CEO of the renowned tuner the car is an absolute all-rounder, but in the "intensified" ABT version it offers additional maximum individuality and dynamics. Hans-Jürgen Abt: „The happiness in driving, always and everywhere – this is what our new AS3 stands for.“

At the moment engineers are occupied with testing the increase of performance of the AS3, but one thing is for sure yet: The new version is a real sports car, a car which can compete with larger vehicles if necessary, but also a car which navigates smoothly and reliably through daily traffic. The two-litre turbo-diesel engine is particularly economical – and therefore ideal for frequent drivers; Presumably updated by ABT it will offer around 200 HP/ 147 kW (standard: 170 HP/125 kW). Those who like more sporty cars will choose the 2.0 TFSI. Thanks to ABT POWER the engines performance grows to a powerful 250 HP/184 kW (standard: 200 HP/147 kW). ABT Sportsline also offers suspension springs for the AS3 for sportier driving qualities. Besides, a coil-over suspension is in planning, which additionally supports the sporting spirit of the compact car. The ABT brake kit assures suitable safety reserve: The discs have a diameter of 345 mm and grip well whenever needed.

Of course the ABT AS3 also appears to be fast in its optic: Front spoiler, front grille and side skirts make it appear even more distinctive. With the rear spoiler, the rear skirt insert and the two double rear mufflers it shows its strong athletic side. The DR light alloy wheels, which are available in 18 and 19 inches, are an ideal addition for equal style and better handling. This special rim harmonises optimally with the classy silhouette of the ABT AS3: The 3D-impression of the five double spokes symbolises power and ease, movement and stability – and underlines the special class of compactness from Bavaria.

The new ABT UP! : Little but Cool

2012 ABT UP!

It is 3.54 meters short, but provides much space, is extremely fuel-efficient and very, very likeable: the VW up! No compromises here, and it is perfectly geared to what people in our modern age want. “Which does also mean that this baby is supposed to be fun as well“, says Hans-Jürgen Abt. ABT Sportsline’s managing director is simply in love with this car. “It is huge fun to drive it through the narrow streets here in downtown Kempten!“ The up! also reminds Abt of the swift little Abarths his father used to drive. And since his father was so successful in motorsports, the designers gave this practical new compact car a very sporty and aggressive outfit. It goes without saying that the up! is a real ABT, which means that it is assertive without losing its ecological and economic qualities. All components are of the highest quality and very stylish, of course, but also very affordable.

The little one is speedy, precise and will fight for parking space without remorse, but who would mind? His smile comes naturally, the bright red headlight masks make it appear stronger and smarter. Seen from the front, the ABT up! says: “Here I am, that’s me. Size doesn’t matter!“ The carbon-look deco set with its red stripes across the entire surface is a mix of retro and modern age. ABT draws upon the extravagant designs of the Swinging Sixties with which the power versions of plain mass-consumption cars – from “Herbie” the Beetle to Gordini and Cooper – showed that being sensible can also be cool.

Window frames and side skirts are the “common thread” leading straight to the strong back of the ABT up!, where rear masks, an exhaust pipe tunnel and the sporty double exhaust pipe form a unit. The ABT up! will be much admired when thanks to new suspension springs it takes bends in a much more sporty fashion now. It is the love for details that forms its bond with its “elder” brothers. Mirror caps or red hub covers bearing the ABT-Logo make the up! stand out. No wonder, since this car wants to get “up” there.

ABT to present an estate, a new Beetle, a power pack and the smallest ABT ever at Geneva Motor Show

2012 ABT QS3 - Teaser image

On March 8, the 82nd International Motor Show will open at Geneva, and like every year, this leading trade fair is also the start of the automotive season. It has also almost become a tradition that ABT Sportsline presents its upcoming highlights here. The largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group uses its presentation at the Palexpo to gauge its future success. So don’t be surprised that the company will once again present a most special quartet of models.

The ABT QS3 – more than an SUV

With the QS3, ABT Sportsline continues its SUVs’ success story and it’s all about the “S”, really. Here it stands for “even sportier”. The strongest version of this compact car, the 2.0 TSI, has 270 hp (199 kW) – quite promising, wouldn’t you say? This modified Audi SUV from ABT is always superior. No wonder, then, that the QS3’s looks are also impressive. And indeed: every single element – from its front spoiler to its rear wing – enhances this special car’s special character.

The ABT AS6 Avant – a perfect combination

A premium estate is luxurious, provides plenty of space for all kinds of stuff and is fast – especially when built by ABT Sportsline. The latest edition of the successful “premium transporter” AS6 Avant has a 360 hp diesel (standard: 313 hp). It is not only practical and chic but also extremely racy. And you see it right away: Look at its design, side skirts, front and rear spoiler and the striking rear bumper set with its four-pipe exhaust underscore the AS6 Avant’s elegance and make it appear even more assertive than before.

The ABT Beetle – a real sportsman

Its predecessor was an evergreen, a vehicle that moved the masses, even a film star. And the old Beetle was a milestone for ABT, too. And the new one is going to galvanise the people. It is charming and will give you huge pleasure, too. 240 horses (176 kW) in the 2.0 TFSI are quite a lot and thanks to the smart lowering of the car’s suspension, this “Speedy Beetle“ by ABT is also an eye-catcher with  excellent driving dynamics – on 20’’ alloy wheels in particular. A very stylish element are the headlight and rear light masks. In its standard version, the new Beetle is a nice enough fellow, but in its ABT Design it’s cheeky as hell.

The ABT up! – an apt ABT!

What do you mean, sweet? The ABT up! is an alpha male through and through! And it is perfectly at home in the city. Design elements like mirror caps, hubcaps, headlight masks, side skirts, the cool deco set and many other things see to it. It is these extras that make the ABT up! seem so trendy and modern. The only conservative thing about it is its fuel consumption.

The new ABT AS5 : Sporty Elegance

2012 ABT  AS5

The A5 is a fast coupe and a comfortable travel companion to begin with. But in its ABT Sportsline version this extravagant car is even more sporty. The latest edition of the ABT AS5 combines a precise and harmonious design with dynamic technology. “For us, it was important to combine this car’s extraordinary design with our ideas and thus to underscore the car’s character. Its increased performance and its body parts form a unit”, says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The traditional Bavarian company’s managing director is very excited about this automobile. “If you look at the AS5, you want to take in every inch of its marvellous silhouette, and if you sit in it, all you want is to get it on the road. This coupé is really a power pack.“

This sports car in its “tailor-made suit” is so much fun to drive because it has undergone a real ABT Sportsline treatment. The car is always assertive and second to none: ABT POWER turns the 3.0l diesel engine from its original 245 hp (180 kW) to a torquey 300 hp (221 kW). For the 2.0 TFSI, it is a dynamic 270 hp or 199 kW (original version: 211 hp/155 kW). Other engine variants are being developed and will be presented at a later stage.

To be sure, this additional  ABT POWER also has to be put on the road. So a lowered suspension has been geared to the AS5, which make for a very effective lowering of the car’s centre of gravity – in visual terms, too. This is part of the overall design concept. Front spoiler, side skirts, fender inserts, rear skirt insert, rear spoiler and the typical four-pipe exhaust system make the chic ABT appear unobtrusively assertive from wherever you look at it. As an ideal complementary feature, ABT recommends the CR Silverlight or DR alloy wheels. Depending upon your taste, they will underscore either the new ABT AS5’s sportiness or its elegance. And in visual terms they are fully in line with the sport braking system, which is available with discs of 345 or 380mm in diameter.

The new ABT AS5 has been developed by the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, with its designers and engineers making no compromises. After all, what driver of this unique coupe would want to make compromises? “They want a maximum of automotive sophistication, dynamism, roadworthiness, design and assertiveness”, Hans-Jürgen Abt says. So the new AS5 is a benchmark five times over!

[Source ABT]

The new ABT AS4 is sporty, assertive and chic!

2012 ABT AS4

Congratulations! With the launch of its very latest version, the Audi A4 turns 40! This means a full four decades of success, first for the Audi 80, then for the A4 – and ABT has been part of this success from the very beginning. “The A4 is an important car for us, too. It always re-defines the premium standard for medium-sized cars,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The renowned Bavarian tuning company’s CEO is proud to be able to present the newABT AS4 on the occasion of the series model’s fortieth anniversary: “Our AS4 is definitely state-of-the-art. It combines sportiness and assertiveness,” Hans-Jürgen Abt explains. The AS4 is a most dependable car in every situation. But it also means sheer pleasure!

In terms of better performance,ABT Sportsline always provides balanced packages that are fully geared to the respective car and the requirements of the owner. An ABT is always a dynamic vehicle, and for its whole life at that! And what the engineers came up with for the new AS4 has been mercilessly endurance-tested, of course. The figures read as follows. ABT POWER lends the top model 435 hp (320 kW), up from the original V6 petrol engine’s 333 hp (245 kW): this fast ABT only needs 4.8 seconds to go to 100 km/h from a standstill and is very torquey indeed, with a top speed of 282 km/h. And the 3.0 TDI is a real fierce car: In its ABT POWER version, the turbo diesel engine shows 282 hp or 207 kW (serial version: 245 hp/180 kW). Its torque is 560 Nm, up from 500 and certainly enough for every situation. And the “little” four-cylinder version, the 2.0 TFSI, has also undergone an ABT POWER treatment. Up from 211 hp (155 kW), the petrol engine now shows 275 hp (202 kW). Whatever engine you may want to buy, you will always get a lot of added sportiness and agility.

And of course you will always be able to tell atrue ABT from a less powerful car. That was so 40 years ago and it also applies to the new AS4. ABT has developed body parts thatunderscore the car’s character and make it self-confident and dynamic but without seeming arrogant, as it were. The front air dam is fully in line with the striking lights of the AS4, almostpressing the car down onto the road. This sporty approach is continued by the ABT Sportslinedesigners in the side sills and wing inserts. Aerofoils, rear apron inserts and the two two-pipe exhaust systems round off this very, very sporty – and stylish – car’s design. And last but not least, there are the ABT alloy wheels: Be it CR Silverlight or DR – they are all perfect for the new ABT AS4. Needless to say, they are also available in combination with high-speed tyres. After all, the AS4’s success story is to be continued – on blacktop!

The “Estate of the Art” in sport – the new ABT AS6 Avant

2012 ABT AS6 AVANT

Amazing what it can do: the ABT AS6 Avant is a fast luxury liner which likes going on long journeys. Both sporty and dynamic, it offers driving pleasure – its excellent comfort ensures that this pleasure remains even on long trips. And in the rear it impresses with large luggage space as well as the typical ABT view of four exhaust pipes. "This estate stands for lifestyle and power. Which is also going to be honoured by the driver behind you", Hans-Jürgen Abt clarifies. The CEO of the now 115 years old company adds: “The vehicle shows all of our experience in tuning.”

The AS6 Avant is certainly self-confident, no question. But it also acts elegant and classy, and looks just as good outside the opera as well as at the car park of the Nürburgring. The fact that its home is originally on the race track is clear from the three swift letters: A-B-T. The performance data speaks the same language: the most powerful turbo diesel with three litre cubic capacity provides 300 HP/221 kW thanks to ABT POWER (series-standard: 245 HP/180 kW). The weaker version of the 3.0 TDI now provides 240 HP or 177 kW (series-standard: 204 HP/150 kW). The AS6 Avant provides the maximum sports combination with the performance-improved V6 gasoline engine: the Kempten engineers have conjured up a huge 420 HP (309 kW) from the basic version’s sporty 300 HP. The versatile premium class fun estate, is also capable of a strong sprint: the ABT AS6 Avant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in exactly five seconds.

Optically the estate looks decent and extravagant, and appears confident and powerful from all sides: the sidebars and front spoiler harmonise with the elongated contours of the vehicle. The crowning feature is the rear spoiler and the rear apron set with four exhaust pipes. The design of the ABT AS6 Avant also includes light-metal designer wheels, which are available in 19, 20 and powerful 21 inch sizes. It goes without saying that ABT also offers alloys in combination with high-speed tyres which suit the car’s performance potential.

Whatever engine the customer chooses – he/she always gets a balanced vehicle which meets the highest demands: everyday reliability and suitability for long journeys in combination with maximum sportiness characterise the new ABT AS6 Avant. After all you don’t want to go without comfort and luxury just because you are in a particular hurry.
